The DS game introduces some changes to how stats are calculated. Certain stats are not affected by Battle Type or Measure Type; these are the ones that determine Starting Constitution, Speed, Attack Power, Defense Power, Max HP, and Max Attack. Stat differences are based on a dinosaur's given species, with frequently higher stats for higher-tier species.
As with the arcade, every Full Roll, a single Move Card will be drawn at random, with the player assigned a 1 or 2 to use. If the entire deck is drawn, the player will be automatically assigned the least effective card as the chosen card. This is a downside to the DS game, as the deck is small even in normal situations (the arcade has a much larger deck size) and can become much smaller when selecting a Move that has missed its chance to attack. However, the use of Move Cards to select Move Types means any type can be chosen each turn via a Full Roll, even not assigning a Move at all.
The DS game features a giant map of the Dinosaur World. At the start of each chapter, the player is randomly assigned a DinoSpot (with star locations on the map) and the day of the week, and the chapter is set for that location; areas with specific Dinos or events will not be visited. Chapters must be completed, each leading to a specific DinoSpot which can be visited on any day to uncover more dinosaurs, to complete the chapter with additional challenges, and to unlock a Chapter Bonus.
In the DS game, the Attribute or Critical Move of each Move Card has some effect on the player or opponent; only Moved cards may be used to create Moves. Up to three cards may be used in a turn, the first card used being the least effective; for best results, a Rank 3 Move card should always be used last. 7211a4ac4a
